Terms of Service
Version 1
Terms of Service
Last updated: see version number above. By creating an account, uploading a file, or downloading a file, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use this service.
This document is a draft written by the operator. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
1. What this service is
Orynium Drive stores files you upload and gives you links to share them. That is the whole of what is promised.
2. There are no backups
We do not keep backups of your files. If a file is deleted, corrupted, lost to hardware failure, lost to a mistake by us, or lost for any other reason, it is gone and cannot be restored.
Do not use this service as the only copy of anything you care about. Keep your own backup, somewhere else, always.
3. Your files are your responsibility
Everything you upload is your responsibility. You are solely responsible for:
- what the file contains
- whether you have the right to upload it
- whether you have the right to share it
- who you give the link to
- what those people do with it
- whether uploading it is legal where you are
You confirm that you own the content you upload or have permission to upload and share it.
4. Encryption, passwords and permanent loss
This service offers several security levels. One of them, zero-knowledge mode, means the key never leaves your device and we never hold it.
If you lose the password or recovery code for a file in a mode we cannot recover, that file is permanently unreadable. Not by you, not by us, not by anyone. There is no reset, no backdoor, no support request that recovers it. We cannot help you, because we designed the system so that we cannot.
Keeping your passwords, recovery codes and encryption keys safe is entirely your responsibility. The service, its designer, its administrators and its owner accept no responsibility for data lost this way.
5. Content and age
Users upload files we do not inspect. Some content on this service may be unsuitable for some people, including some adults.
By using this service you confirm that you are of legal adult age in your own country and jurisdiction, and that you accept responsibility for what you choose to open.
6. What you may not upload
The following are prohibited without exception, and no setting, encryption mode or disclaimer changes that:
- Sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form, real or generated
- Content that sexualises a minor in any way
- Malware, ransomware, or anything designed to damage systems
- Material you do not have the right to distribute
- Content promoting violence against people
- Anything used to harass, threaten, or endanger a specific person
Accounts that upload prohibited material are terminated without refund and the files are removed. Where the law requires a report to be made, it will be made. Encryption does not create an exception to this section.
7. Reporting and removal
Every download page carries a report link. Reports are reviewed and files that break section 6 are removed, together with every link to them.
We keep the IP address, timestamp and browser identifier for every upload, including uploads made without an account, so that abuse can be traced. These records are kept for as long as they are needed for that purpose.
8. Free accounts and expiry
Files uploaded on a free account may expire and be deleted automatically after the period you chose at upload. Expired files are not recoverable. A permanent storage allowance is provided separately and is shown in your account.
9. Payment
Paid plans are billed in advance for the term you select. Where a payment provider does not support automatic renewal, you will be reminded before your plan ends and can renew manually.
10. Termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. You may close your account at any time. Closing an account deletes its files, and, per section 2, they cannot be restored afterwards.
11. No warranty and no liability
This service is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, slow, or interrupted. It may lose data.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the service, its designer, its administrators and its owner accept no responsibility and no liability for any loss of data, loss of access, loss of money, or any other damage arising from using this service.
12. Changes
These terms may change. When they do, the version number increases and you will be asked to accept the new version before continuing to use the service.
